About
I have nearly a decade of experience in strategy and innovation, leading teams to tackle complex, ambiguous, high-impact problems. I bring the skill and expertise of a startup strategy leader (e.g., fundraising, corporate development, product strategy). However, it is my experience with the difficulties of working in innovation strategy, and the approaches I’ve learned for solving those problems, that really set me apart.
The common thread through my career is working on problems where cutting edge technologies are causing dramatic structural changes in industries, creating opportunities to commercialize new technologies, build new markets, and leverage novel business models. I have made it my life’s work to solve these problems.
I am currently leading strategy at Valo Health, a startup applying machine learning to drug development. I have first hand experience with the challenges of using new technologies and business models in a regulated industry with decades-long timelines. Before Valo, I worked at MassGeneral Brigham, building and deploying clinical machine learning tools for radiology. At Innosight (a boutique consultancy founded by Clay Christensen), I worked on a wide variety of projects, learning not only the standard management consulting tool set, but also an array of frameworks and tools for developing and implementing strategies for disruptive innovation.
As I have confronted these and other challenges, I have developed a pragmatic attitude and approach to solving business and technology problems:
- Approaching opportunities with strategic rigor and an analytical mindset
- Solving problems with a hypothesis-driven, experiment-centric approach
- A proclivity to action - I get things moving to start learning and make progress quickly
Outside of work, I am a voracious reader of history, biographies, and mysteries.
